Application

Kingspan Nilvent is specifically designed for use as a breathable membrane in unventilated pitched roofs and timber frame walls, offering unparalleled protection and performance.

Technical Information

• Composition: nilvent comprises a laminated, 3–layer polyolefin construction. The top layer provides protection from UV and mechanical damage. The middle layer is the functional layer. The bottom layer provides abrasion resistance. Kingspan nilvent has a light grey upper surface, printed with the Kingspan nilvent logo, and a dark grey lower surface.

• Roll Width: 1.5m

• Roll Length: 50m

• Thicknesses: 0.4 mm

• Area per Roll: 75 m²

• Water Vapour Resistance: nilvent achieves a resistance of 0.10 MNs/g and a water vapour trasmission S_d of 0.02 m.

• Reaction to Fire (Eurocalss): nilvent has a Euroclass rating of E.

• Liquid Water Penetration Resistance: nilvent is classified as W1, when tested, unaged, in accordance with BS EN 1928: 2000. W1 is the best possible classification.

• Tensile Strength: nilvent achieves an unaged tensile strength of 265 N / 50 mm in the longitudinal direction, and 210 N / 50 mm in the transverse direction.

• Nail Tear Strength: nilvent achieves a nail tear strength of 130 N in the longitudinal direction, and 145 N in the transverse direction.

Installation Guidance:

To accommodate varying roof pitches and wall configurations, Nilvent offers tailored installation laps, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility with slating, tiling, and rooflight installations. Its versatile application allows for horizontal or vertical fixing to timber frame walls, seamlessly integrating into any construction project.

Rafter pitch:

• 12.5° – 14°: 150mm minimum lap.
• 15° – 34°: 100mm minimum lap.
• 35° or above: 75mm minimum lap.

Timber frame walls: Kingspan Nilvent can be fixed to a timber frame wall either horizontally or vertically.

Slating & tiling: Slating and tiling over Kingspan Nilvent is exactly the same as on any other pitched roof except that, in some instances, the slate / tile battens (if required) are fixed to the previously applied counter–battens.
