100mm Knauf Acoustic Roll - 10.3m x 1.2m (12.36m²)
100mm Knauf Acoustic Roll is a glass mineral wool insulation roll designed to reduce airborne sound transmission in internal wall and floor applications. Manufactured at Knauf Insulation's UK plants in St. Helens and Cwmbran, it uses ECOSE® Technology — a plant-based binder containing no added formaldehyde or phenol — and carries the best possible Euroclass A1 non-combustible reaction to fire classification.
Each roll measures 10.3m x 1.2m and is pre-cut into two 600mm-wide strips, giving 12.36m² of coverage per pack. The 600mm width is engineered to friction-fit between timber or metal studs and joists at standard 600mm centres, eliminating the need for cutting and reducing gaps that compromise acoustic performance.
With a declared thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK (per DoP G4209LSCPR) and a thermal resistance (R-value) of 2.85 m²K/W at 100mm thickness, this roll provides meaningful thermal improvement alongside its primary acoustic function. The manufactured density exceeds 10 kg/m³, meeting the requirements for an absorption layer specified in Approved Document E of the Building Regulations.
Knauf Acoustic Roll is tested to meet the sound performance standards for type B internal timber or metal stud partitions under Approved Document E, and is suitable for use with a range of Robust Details registered constructions for separating walls and floors, reducing the need for onsite acoustic testing.
The product is odourless, rot-proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin, and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. It has a service life equal to the structure in which it is installed — at least 50 years according to the EPD.
Knauf's glass mineral wool contains up to 80% recycled content from post-consumer sources including windows, bottles and jars. The product contains no ozone-depleting substances and has a cradle-to-grave (A1–C4) global warming potential of 1.15 kgCO₂e/m² at 100mm thickness. It holds the Eurofins Gold Certificate for Indoor Air Comfort and the DECLARE Red List Free label, confirming no harmful chemicals from the Red List are present.
Key Benefits:
- Euroclass A1 non-combustible — the highest fire safety classification
- Pre-cut 2 x 600mm widths for friction fitting to standard stud centres — no cutting required
- Manufactured density exceeding 10 kg/m³ meets Approved Document E absorption layer requirements
- Tested for type B internal partitions to Approved Document E
- Compatible with Robust Details registered separating wall and floor constructions
- ECOSE® Technology binder — no added formaldehyde or phenol
- Up to 80% recycled glass content
- Lightweight, flexible and easy to handle
- 50+ year service life matching the building structure
Applications:
- Internal partition walls (timber and metal stud)
- Separating walls between dwellings
- Internal floors between joists
- Separating floors (timber construction)
- Intermediate floors
Good to Know:
- Designed for internal applications only — not suitable for external or cavity wall use
- Acoustic performance depends on the complete system build-up (plasterboard type, number of layers, stud specification, and construction quality)
- Not a structural or load-bearing product — requires framing
- Also available in 25mm, 50mm and 75mm thicknesses
- For installation guidance, see Knauf's installation video
